Subject: CONVERSATION WITH JAMES TALLY

In a recent conversation with James Tally he ask that the news bank let all the members know how things were going in general for the OGBA.

First the injunction hearing in the Supreme Court is moving slowly and it has yet to be decided who will have jurisdiction over the injunctions. Jurisdiction could either go to the Oklahoma Supreme Court or back to the District Courts. This will have to be decided before any other procedures take place, so this could take sometime yet.

SB835 is in conference right now and it will be much better to get this right than to push this until we are completely prepared

County options can be obtained several ways and must also be dealt with correctly and with precision. This can be done by the petition method if necessary. We will need to depend on Senator Shurden and Assoc. to guide us in the correct direction on this.

James stressed to make sure everyone realized the importance of seeing which Reps and Senators were up for election and to make sure that we only supported those who had voted for us in the past or new comers who would favor us. We could really make a dent in the ARA by electing more gamefowl friendly legislators. Hopefully the County Directors and OGBA Board members will be able to help us find the correct candidates in their area. We need to start working on this soon.

The support of our compliance clubs and the organization of our upcoming benefits at all our compliance clubs is an absolute necessity for us to be able to continue to compete. We have to get the dates set and stress to everyone the importance of their participation.  We must get these benefits done and hopefully scheduled before hot weather arrives. A benefit in July will not be nearly as successful as one in April or May. We can not set by and wait for the next person to do this. We can not tolerate the attitude of going along for the ride for as long as it last. Anyone with that attitude can hurt us much worse than the ARA.

Any one wanting help in organizing a benefit derby can contact Val Holland , Pokey Savage or any of the OGBA Board members. Contact us here if you need info on how to reach them.

Remember going along for the ride for as long as it last can hurts us much worse than the ARA. Everyone must do their share.

PETA antics wearing thin
Deseret Morning News editorial

It's always something, isn't it? If People for the Ethical Treatment
of Animals isn't throwing blood on fur coats, it's likening the conditions
of the Holocaust in Nazi Germany to the anxiety of livestock before
slaughter. Puh-lease.
Now PETA is making a case for vegetarianism relying upon The Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' Word of Wisdom. LDS Church officials say
they do not interpret the passage posted on a PETA billboard along 3900
South 279 West as a call to vegetarianism. (The LDS Church also owns this
newspaper.)

Scriptures used as marketing tool for PETA
      By Shannon Speirs
      NewsNet Staff Writer

A new billboard created by the People for the Ethical Treatment of
Animals uses LDS scripture to encourage people to practice vegetarianism.

The billboard, located on 279 W. and 3900 South in Salt Lake County,
refers to Doctrine and Covenants 89:15: "And these [animals] hath God made
for the use of man only in times of famine and excess of hunger."

The message, which concludes, "Go vegetarian," is directed to members
of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who believe strongly in
health and compassion, said Sean Diener, a spokesman for PETA and a member
of the LDS church.

"If most people of faith, particularly Mormons, saw what chickens,
cows and pigs endure on factory farms to become a lunch or dinner, they
would be outraged," Diener said.
