Principal Bailey, of the Golden Grove primary school, told South Africa's Independent newspaper that PETA had not given him any advance warning of its plans to distribute anti-chicken trading cards after school, and that the group's direct contact with students flew in the face of school policy directing the kids to never accept anything from strangers.
During a 2002 interview, PETA co-founder and president Ingrid Newkirk assured CNN's worldwide audience: "Everything we do is based at adults." How strange, then, that PETA campaign director Andrew Butler candidly told the South African Mail & Guardian that he was running "a campaign targeted at children between the age of seven and 12."
