This is your friend, Clifton
I wanted to take the unique opportunity of this date,
June 6, 2006 (“666”), to ponder some of the darker
aspects of our human story, in past, present, and
future tense.
But first, I want to talk a little about the nature of
conspiracies, prophesies, and realities.
The temptation for the writer is often to wax
dramatic and go straight for the punch; To
sensationalize with bold speculations and theories
about sinister plans. But I would rather for now,
encourage caution, and make an important disclaimer:
“If we will be seekers of truth, we must first mistrust
all information and even our own ideas, then by
means of our own inquiry and reason, together with
our well-honed powers of observation, we should
patiently exert every reasonable effort to winnow out
the pure gold of truth from the grit and gravel.”.
Conspiracies are a fact of everyday life. They occur
anytime that two or more people conspire, or
communicate and plan together in secrecy, to
accomplish a common goal. Such is the nature of the
craft of intelligence, which can have some legitimate
purposes: For example, counterbalancing the
espionage and other competitive efforts of hostiles
and adversaries, with immediate implications for
national security, foreign affairs, and business
planning.
And we all know that real conspiracies can mask
some very dark purposes.
But you and I must to be very careful with
conspiracy THEORIES, since so many have been
fabricated for the purpose of confusing the masses
(That’s you and I), and therefore have a political
motive and content. The purpose of commonly
distributed conspiracy theories is generally to deceive
others into the taking of actions (i.e. voting, and
activism), in an incorrect manner.. That is,
incorrectly acting, based upon faulty information..
i.e., misinformation and disinformation.
The use of information in its various forms
(information, misinformation, and disinformation) as a
political tool to move public opinion is an important
tool in the arsenal of military intelligence operatives in
war, and that of lobbyists and public relations (PR)
professionals in everyday life. Ed Bernays, known as
the “Father of Public Relations” pioneered the
industry almost 100 years ago in the US, and worked
for both government and private enterprise, crafting
successful media campaigns to form public opinion for
everything from the need for US involvement in war
(WWI), to brand preference and the sale of soap
flakes.
With the advent of the internet, we now find
ourselves in a sea of information, misinformation and
disinformation. Much of this data finds it’s way
quickly to the more popular media, such as radio,
television, and press. So, we are daily exposed to
much propaganda, and much of it based on faulty or
tainted information. It is a bewildering prospect to
make sense of it all.
That said, we must try to understand the challenges
we will face. We cannot waste what is a unique
opportunity in human history to learn the truth and to
better determine our futures. We should be spending
more time in conducting our own personal
investigations (open-mindedly), and less time on
entertainment. This is a responsibility that I have
accepted, and to this end, I put one television in
storage, and gave the other away, now seven years
ago. I invite others to do the same, or at least to
limit and plan media / entertainment exposure. After
all, the REAL adventure is in your own lives, and the
world around you!
Now, here is a problem: We who DO seek answers
and weary of the task may be seduced by one of
many wild conspiracy theories, which are usually lies
and half-truths bundled together and leavened with
some accurate facts to lend the lies greater
credibility. These widely-purveyed conspiracy
theories are a usually of a type of disinformation
which takes the form of a published tract, or a series
of documents or unverifiable “facts”, which are then
disseminated to the public in “news” or other forms of
mass communications campaigns. Many of us have
repeated such faulted information and propaganda,
and even taken a personal stake in it, and defended
it, without ever troubling ourselves to verify
anything!
The conspiracy theory is one type of propaganda,
and as such becomes a part of a REAL conspiracy,
the real nature of which remains unknown to the
politically naive. It is the sheep’s hide on the back of
the wolf. It is a deception, or “front” for the truth,
which remains hidden.
So, conspiracy theories are just that.. theories, and
will forever remain so, since they can never be fully
proven or disproven. Often, their only purpose is to
confuse minds and obscure the facts. We can,
however, develop our own theories and speculations,
based on our own viewpoints and experiences, and
we should always thenlabor to either prove or
disprove them, and be willing to change our views as
new data comes in.. Even if it entails admitting that
we were wrong. This is a personal responsibility which
everyone should embrace.
Due to the secret nature of real conspiracies, the
role of multiple personalities in acting them out (often
with no knowledge of the full plan, or the role of
others in it), and the penalties incumbent upon
conspirators who betray their secrets, accurate
information is often unavailable or short-lived.
Unraveling a real conspiracy is a lot like finding the
needle in the haystack. With the erosion and
intentional altering over time of evidences, and the
death, intimidation and silencing of witnesses, there
is no real way to verify the facts in schemes which
may eventually result in some of the worst
deceptions and crimes against humanity.
The
important things to remember is that we live in a
dangerously competitive world. Conspiracies are a
fact of life. I don’t know if it is even relevant to us to
know the history of ancient secret societies which
are alleged to have formulated master plans to take
over the world. Isn’t it enough to know that we face
real conflicts and controversies unique to us? We can
only be reasonably certain of present realities, if (and
only if) we are good and sober observers and
completely self-honest. To the extent that we are
good and sober observers today, our words can be
drawn upon for a better understanding of events
past, by other seekers still to come.
And,
there will be other seekers because competition,
adversity and conflict are empirical to life. So, there
will always be lies and intrigues. And there will always
be truth. Truth is elemental and indestructible, even
if inscrutable to us. But I believe that there will
always be those who seek the truth. We MUST seek
to know the truth of what is going on around us, in
order to better guide our actions today, and thereby
to influence our world and realize the hope and
promise of bright tomorrows.
Most of us view
world events in one of two ways: Some of us believe
that we can exercise a degree of influence over
these events, and others believe that “whatever will
be, will be”. Of those of us who believe in
the “fates”, many believe in prophesies, as given in
Revelations and other books of the Bible, especially
the New Testament. Some people constantly
interpret world events in terms of prophetic
fulfillment. Many have made bad calls.. In fact,
Christians have been looking for the fulfillment of
Revelations for the last 2,000 years! But the
prophesies do, indeed, seem to be reflected in
current events, and give rise to serious thought and
discussion. Jesus told us to watch for certain signs,
and behold, that many of the signs have been upon
us for several years, now.
Myself, I am a
Christian. But I would like to believe that the world
will be around, and history on a steady course, for a
long time. Life is good, after all! If heaven is bliss,
earth still isn’t all that bad, on a good day! Heaven
will wait, I say! I do believe in prophesy, but I also
believe Jesus’ words, that “no man knows the time”. I
believe that God gave man the choice between right
and wrong, and I believe that we can make choices
that naturally would determine the outcome and
timeline. I also know that all things have a beginning
and end. These two views and realities do not
contradict one another. It is within God’s ability to
know the beginning and end of all things, and events
before they happen, even given the possibility to
alter those events.
And just as Christians
look to their prophesies, and the return of Jesus and
a renewed heaven and earth, the Sunni Muslims look
to the fulfillment of THEIR own prophesies, too
(regarding cataclysmic war and cleansing) to bring
the return of their spiritual leader, the “Mahdi”. The
main problem is that some Sunni’s seem to believe
they should force the matter by preparing for this
conflict! Prophesy can be a prickly porquipine! Yes,
Heaven can wait!
It has been said that those
who will not learn from history will be doomed to
repeat it’s mistakes. History is a looking-glass into
the future, and contains vital clues as to what
tomorrow might be. In fact, it’s easy to see that the
events of today are merely a continuation of what
was laid down by those who went before. It’s called
a “chain of events”. Some of the most critical
moments occurred only fifty to one hundred years
ago barely more than one lifetime.
We must
consider the rising tide in laws to control the ordinary
conduct of citizens in the USA, and the means to
which the government agencies, employees’ unions,
and their lobbyists are seemingly willing to resort to
achieve a high level of what amounts to complete
economic and social control. If we feel strangely
uncomfortable with the widespread, mandatory
government-enforced use of microchips, licensing
laws and huge computer databases for the purpose
of tracking individuals and their assets and activities
(including, but not limited to, anything animal-
related), maybe it’s with good reason! Perhaps there
is something familiar in our memory! This
brings us to the life of one of the most influential and
arguably evil men of the 20th century, Adolf Hitler. It
can be said that he was one of history’s most
infamous leaders, and the most hated in the memory
of many people. In fact, he was only ONE of several
truly ruthless men who rose to power in the 20th
century by means of carefully contrived and bold
political intrigues and tactics, later followed by brutal
oppression and enforcement schemes. But the full
measure of the devastation he wrought is almost
incomparable in scope to any other world leader,
rivaled only by Stalin.
Not the least of the
artifices by which Hitler rose to power was the use of
masterful propaganda campaigns, a craft in which he
and his top ministers were proficient, by means of
military training, cunning and instinct. And although
all of Hitler’s platforms were seemingly sprung from
the well of his own life and troubled spirit, many also
became touchstone issues for Germans and
foreigners, as well. We know that he ranted
energetically about the betrayal of Germany by
the “traitors of November”, the politicians who signed
the Versailles Agreement. And we know that he
blamed the Jews and Communists for plots to keep
Germany and it’s Aryan population from their rightful
place as a supreme world power. What many people
do NOT know is that Hitler’s platforms had a “kinder,
gentler” side and outreach propaganda, designed to
win the trust of caring, decent, and educated
people.
Hitler’s failed “Beer Hall putsch” ( a
premature coup) landed him in prison for several
years, and his continuing inflammatory public
speaking and the publication of his personal views
and goals in “Mein Kampt” got him into more hot
water with the authorities and raised the eyebrows of
the more attentive observers. But the future Füher
had learned his lessons, well!"...Instead of
working to achieve power by an armed coup we shall
have to hold our noses and enter the Reichstag
against the Catholic and Marxist deputies. If
outvoting them takes longer than outshooting them,
at least the results will be guaranteed by their own
Constitution! Any lawful process is slow. But sooner
or later we shall have a majority - and after that
Germany." - Hitler stated while in prison.

Prior to his imprisonment
for treason (and even during his prison term), Hitler
had gotten to a high point in popularity with his fiery
rhetoric, but he still lacked the support he needed to
take over the complete control of the democratic
republic of Germany. After his release, he took up the
speaking circuit, again. But, after being slapped with
an order to cease all public speaking for two years by
the Bavarian government, Hitler changed tactics and
focused on a different approach. One of these was
the reorganization of the NAZI party, in preparation
for the eventual takeover of government. One
organization was subversive against the existing
government, and the other created a system of
ministries and organizations, not unlike the myriad of
quasi-government “NGO’s” that we have today. The
PO II organized itself like a mirror government,
organizing society’s fabric and overseeing private
activities down to the smallest level.
“The
Nazi party itself was divided into two major political
organizations.
- PO I - Dedicated to undermining and overthrowing
the German democratic republic.
- PO II - Designed to create a government in
waiting, a highly organized Nazi government within
the republic that would some day replace it. PO II
even had its own departments of Agriculture,
Economy, Interior, Foreign Affairs, Propaganda,
Justice, along with Race and Culture.”
“Also at this time, Hitler began to reorganize
the SA, his Nazi storm troopers, which he referred to
in Mein Kampf as "...an instrument for the conduct
and reinforcement of the movement's struggle for its
philosophy of life."
The SA began as an
organization of Nazi street brawlers originally called
the "monitor troop" that kept Nazi meetings from
being broken up by Marxists and fought with them in
the streets as well. It had also been Hitler's
main 'instrument' in the failed
Putsch.
Realizing the German man's fondness
for uniforms, the SA adopted a brown-shirted outfit,
with boots, swastika armband, badges and cap. Nazi
uniforms along with the swastika symbol would
become important tools in providing recognition and
visibility, thus increasing public awareness of the
party.” ( HistoryPlace.com)
Hitler now
regretted some of the mistakes he had made with his
writings and speeches, and needed an image
makeover so that he could win in democratic
elections, which he now recognized as the path to
power. He did a lot of “baby kissing”, as was popular
with politicians of the day, but in one of his more
masterful moves, he seized the opportunity to
address the then-new practice of vivisection. This
was a perfect platform to claim an ethical high
ground, whereby he could recruit animal-loving
admirers and support throughout the US and Europe.
In fact, the anti-vivisection organization which Hitler
and his ministers formed grew very fast, and inspired
the issuance of a host of laws and enforcements on
the “rights” of animals to humane treatment and
freedom from pain.
It is well documented that
Hitler was a lover of dogs, and that he generally
shunned meat, especially later in life. Much was
known and recorded of his life, also his personal
statements, so this is a matter of record. It would
also be fair to say that he was an anti-social bully
and unable to subordinate himself to others. He only
wanted the company of those people who agreed and
approved of him. He treasured the faithful company
of his dogs, especially his favorite, “Blondie”, a
German Shepherd Dog. We can see that his “better
qualities”, such as fondness for animals, grew from
his own social dysfunction and character defects, not
virtue!
The animal rights movement, to Hitler
and his ministers, Goerring and Goebels, thus became
the ideal platform by which to achieve popular
acceptance and trust, and once in power, to enforce
ruthless authority in an arbitrary manner. It was, for
example, against the law for anyone to abuse an
animal, but the German National Socialist Party
(NAZI) would later arbitrarily seize the assets of,
imprison, overwork, starve, beat, overcrowd, neglect,
and perform cruel and needless “experiments” upon
Jews, Slavs, Gypsies, homosexuals, the mentally
retarded, political enemies or anyone who even dared
to speak up to them.
We’d be remiss not to
wonder about the parallels between our current
conditions and those existent in Germany, prior to
Hitler’s ascendancy to the role of supreme leader.
